Environment Canada Announces New Four Year Agreement with the Fur Institute of Canada

On July 31st, 2015, Environment Canada announced a new four year agreement with the Fur Institute of Canada worth $845,104. This funding supports continued work by the Fur Institute to further Canada’s commitments under the Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards.

In response to the announcement, Dion Dakins, Chair, Fur Institute of Canada said, “The Fur Institute of Canada’s trap research and development program is unique in the world and reflects Canada’s leadership role in the sustainable and wise use of our abundant wildlife resources. This investment will ensure the continuation of this essential program and is very much welcomed by the Canadian trapping community.”
